Corey,
It is a valid count. Unfortunately I couldn't paste a link to the question, but you could access the answer at elliotwave.com's message board?

Corey,
Initially, I had the same wave count as yours, but was puzzled when trying to align it with other markets like DAX, FTSE, HSI etc all showing the low on Oct 28.
Let me point to the source for your question.

Anon,

It's the most recent structure that's giving the most trouble - was it a triangle? Was it actually wave 3? Did it begin Wave 4? As a newer Elliottician, it's difficult for me to know for sure yet until we get a little more information.

The reason I chose the count I did is that it fulfills the fractal waves of each larger wave completely to the best of my interpretation.

The reason I didn't use a count similar to yours - and I might be wrong - was that the B wave down to 7450 took out the lows of the A wave up. I couldn't see that as a valid count. Generally, the B wave doesn't retrace 100% (or beyond) of Wave A unless it's a strange Flat.

Thoughts?

Corey,
Thanks for posting the wave count for DAX.
One of the problem in doing a proper count for wave 3 (S&P or DAX) is gauging the intensity of wave 3. In other words, a sharpest of the descend in a relative shorter time as compared to wave 1 & 2. This is where we could have various interpretation.
My counts are as following for the Dow:
Wave 3 terminated at 8144 on Oct 28
Wave A-4 ended at 9354
Wave B-4 at 7450
Wave C-4 at 8829
The wave unfolding today could be fractals of 1-5. If correct, then the index would close near 8144 today.
