Returned from Vegas

Nov 18, 2007: 11:54 PM CST

I have returned after the Trader’s Expo in Las Vegas with new knowledge, new connections, and new information.  For those of you who were unable to make it this year to Vegas but wanted to attend a Traders’ Expo, the next event will be held in New York City in mid-February.  I truly recommend newer and intermediate traders attend the Expo, if for nothing else than to meet other traders and make connections so that “at-home retail trading” isn’t so isolating and lonely.

In the upcoming days and weeks, I will be interspersing insights and reviews from the Expo, as well as tips on how to make the most of the Trader’s Expo.

Quite a few trading gurus were bearish on the market, some very much so, and they approached their views from different perspectives and disciplines.  Quite unsurprisingly, some gurus (much less so) were optimistic and bullish for the general market through the remainder of this year and next year.   The main idea is to take what everyone says, look at everything from both sides, and distill the information for yourself with your own analysis.

While it’s good to be back, I did enjoy Las Vegas and meeting other traders.  I have so much to distill and review that I’m glad it’s a holiday week coming up for the markets.  Trading will be on less volume in the upcoming week as major players take time off and a large number of participants will be traveling or trading lightly over the Thanksgiving week.

I intend to do some restructuring on the public blog, including more daily analysis, more brief educational lessons, and more reader participation exercises.

As always, feel free to contact me and share your thoughts on any topic, including if you would like me to link to a post or article of interest that shares similar themes with the mission of this blogsite.
