What Would You like to Hear in a Podcast?

Apr 9, 2008: 11:15 AM CST

podcasticon.pngI’d like to ask you a quick favor – What would you like to hear in a podcast?

I’m toying around with the idea of producing a weekly (free) informational podcast and I would like to know your thoughts on what you would like discussed.

Please take a brief moment and let me know through a comment on the page your thoughts on the following questions (you don’t have to provide your email address or even your real name):

1. What are some ideas for potential segments to discuss (market analysis, psychology, book/product reviews, current trends, interviews, polls)?

2. What would you like me NOT to discuss?

3. What are some examples of other online podcasts (if any) that you enjoy? Also, would you benefit from an audio service/podcast?

4. How long should the podcast be? Also, how frequently should it be released?

I would greatly appreciate any feedback at all to these questions, and any tips, pointers, or suggestions you may have.

Thank you in advance for reading and participating!

I would love to hear you thoughts on market analysis, psychology, current trends, entry – exit points, money management, etc. Thanks for a great website.

  2. Joe Says:

WHat are the important moving averages you’re following in terms of resistance / support? How important do you judge Fibo retracements?

  3. Tom Says:

Big picture ETF plays is what I would like to see particulary related to trades such as IYR versus its Inverse ETF SRS,SPY versus SDS, QQQQ vs. QID, DIA vs. DXD. TLT, FXE GLD etc. You get so much information on stocks in these ETF’s or groups by reviewing the ETF related to groups. Only big groups and big ETFs with good volume.

Awesome suggestions so far. You are making me think in new directions! Please keep the ideas coming.

Curiously enough, John Forman is asking the same questions. Might as well take a peek at his responses: http://www.theessentialsoftrading.com/Blog/index.php/2008/04/06/a-trading-podcast-survey-of-sorts/

The podcasts that I listen to regularly are:
    – Sceptic’s Guide to the Universe (favourite!)
    – Quirks and Quarks
    – Are We Alone
    – The Naked Scientists
    – Pat Condell’s Comedy
    – Point of Inquiry
    – Trader Interviews
    – Skepticality

They offer good variety, come out regularly, mix humour with current events, offer different viewpoints and I expect to learn something good every time. Considering the somewhat repetitive nature of Trader-Interviews, I think there could be a solid niche waiting for someone else to step into the breech. Maybe Jim Cramer’s radio show would be a good strawman to launch off of – current events, humour, variety and a huckster-like passion for trading. I would certainly tune in to that!

Good luck, love to see what you come up with.

After you have determined your strategy, please go through your selection process for determining which option to trade.

am a great fan of brian shanon (alphatrends). and like you profit primarily on the short side.

i like his succinct format, clear lucid and focused. around 5-7 mins.

as i come to read your contrary attitude would like regular outline of sectors/industries (preferably – not individual stocks) with potential problems (or even unseen potential)

    good luck
ps. beware “like” “urrmmm” and other give aways.

  9. Andrew Bates Says:

I listen to the trader interviews podcasts religiously because I enjoy hearing how other traders think and form their ideas.

I would love to hear your thoughts on inter market and inter sector connections and what influences you see one market or sector having on another.

It would also be great to hear a podcast about how you arrived at and began refining your method of trading.

I would like to hear more about psychology.Indicators and systems one can learn but when it comes to pulling the trigger..thats the toughest call.I would like to listen more about cultivating the mind set.For me I want confluence(and not divergence) of my 2 most important indicators…The Brain and The Heart!!!

I’d like to hear some ideas about technical indicators and their use (how to tune them up for long/short positions and so on, for example) but… ehy, this isn’t “Afraid to Techically Trade”, is it? 😉 I really enjoy your posts, but I would like to read/har something more from your Fundamental side…
Don’t choke and don’t deny: come on, everyody has one, somewhere inside 😉
    Congrats for your blog,
